PSALM 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters,

He restores my soul,
He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;

Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
AMEN!

Guidelines For Life:

The first words in Rick Warren's book, "The Purpose Driven Life", is "It's not about you". I love that! Once you figure this out, your whole life will change.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

The Bible is the guideline for life. It is God's Word. It tells of men and their consequences due to sin. It tells of men who were heavily rewarded because they obeyed God's Word. The Bible will show you how to lead a Christian life .Pick up the Bible, blow the dust off of it. Let God talk to you through His Word. I urge you to hold on to every word you read. All of your answers are here. You will surely be amazed at what God wants you to know.

Start with Leviticus 19. God says "Be Holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy". God gave instruction on what NOT to do. There is so much in here that I hope that you have your bible handy to read it. Here are just a few of the laws that God has given us from the book of Leviticus 19: God says:

  • Respect your mother and father
  • Observe My Sabbaths
  • Do not turn to idols or make gods of cast metal for yourselves
  • Do not steal, lie or deceive one another
  • Do not swear falsely by My name
  • Do not defraud or rob your neighbor or do anything that endangers his life
  • Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge
  • Do not practice divination or sorcery
  • Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves
  • Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists
  • Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly
  • When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt.
  • Keep all My decrees and all my laws and follow them

To sum all of this up, Jesus said to love God with all your heart, and your neighbor as yourself. By carrying out Jesus' simple commands, we find ourselves following all of God's other laws as well.

LOVE AND OBEY THE LORD
Deuteronomy 8:1 tells us to obey God's Commandments. We do this by obeying God with:

OUR HEART - By loving Him more than any relationship, activity, achievement or possession.

OUR WILL - By committing ourselves completely to Him.

OUR MIND - By seeking to know Him and His Word, so His principles and values form the foundation of all we think and do.

OUR BODY - By recognizing that our strength, talents, and sexuality are given to us by God to be used for pleasure and fulfillment according to His rules, not ours.

OUR FINANCES - By deciding that all of the resources we have ultimately come from God, and that we are to be managers of them and not owners.

OUR FUTURE - By deciding to make service to God and man the main purpose of our life's work.

The Book of Proverbs is awesome. Solomon, the world's wisest man, wrote most of this book. It covers a lot of topics inlcuding youth and discipline, family life, self control and resisting temptation, business matters, words and the tongue, knowing God, marriage, seeking the truth, wealth and poverty, immorality, and wisdom.

Instead of trying to read Proverbs in one sitting, read one chapter a day for a month. There are 31 chapters. Study and apply what God is saying to you daily.

1 Corinthians 7- The apostle Paul gives instruction on Christian marriage
Colossians 3 - What Christians should do
